Updated On: July 22, 2021, 11:43 am ET

Welcome to the MLB DFS Stacks article - where we’ll be looking to highlight the best hitting stacks of the day. These recommendations are categorized as “Cash Game Stacks” and “Tournament Stacks” while outlining risk/reward situations. We will add additional context with other hitting/pitching options throughout the article.

Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the day, and sometimes injury/rest situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our MLB News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We will be looking at the eight-game main slate beginning at 7:05 ET.

Minnesota (vs. LA Angels - LHP Andrew Heaney)

The Twins are in a nice spot at home against the Angels tonight. LAA southpaw Andrew Heaney has struggled recently while allowing 19 earned runs and 27 hits across 18.1 innings over his last four starts. He also holds a career .335 wOBA split to right-handed bats. Lefty-mashers such as Nelson Cruz, Josh Donaldson, and Mitch Garver are premium plays on this slate. Jorge Polanco and Miguel Sano make sense in this situation as well. Don't be afraid to stack some combination of these guys while hoping they live up to their "Bomba Squad" designation over the past few years. UPDATE: Per his Instagram, Mitch Garver's wife is expecting any day now, so there's a chance he lands on the paternity list. Double-check the lineup card before locking him in.

Boston Red Sox (vs. NY Yankees - LHP Jordan Montgomery

Yankee pitcher Jordan Montgomery has allowed three or more earned runs in four straight games. I'm betting that streak will continue against the Red Sox tonight. Boston will enjoy the hitter-friendly dimensions of Fenway Park while facing this vulnerable pitcher. Xander Bogaerts, J.D. Martinez, Enrique Hernandez, and Hunter Renfroe are strong choices through all formats. You can even look towards Rafael Devers in this lefty/lefty draw, as he is clearly not intimidated by southpaws.

Top Plays: Mitch Garver (C - MIN), Jorge Polanco (2B - MIN), Josh Donaldson (3B - MIN), Xander Bogaerts (SS - BOS), Nelson Cruz (OF - MIN), J.D. Martinez (OF - BOS)

Top Value: Christian Vazquez (C - BOS), Enrique Hernandez (2B - BOS), Hunter Renfroe (OF - BOS)

Wild Cards: Miguel Sano (1B - MIN)

St. Louis (vs. Chicago Cubs - RHP Adbert Alzolay)

Chicago RHP Adbert Alzolay was a pleasant surprise to begin the season, but regression eventually found him in June. Speaking to that point, Alzolay has allowed 20 earned runs through 27.2 innings over his last six games. He also owns a .382 wOBA split to left-handed bats over his career. That has me looking towards switch-hitters like Dylan Carlson and Tommy Edman, both of which have been swinging the bat well lately. Of course, you can stack them alongside fantasy stalwarts like Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt, who have been riding respective hot streaks in July.

Tampa Bay (at Cleveland - RHP Cal Quantrill

Picking on Cleveland RHP Cal Quantrill makes for a fine strategy tonight, and the Rays have enough quality bats to make good on this situation. Quantrill has allowed 17 earned runs and 29 hits across 24 innings over his last five starts. He also holds a 5.42 xERA compared to his actual ERA of 4.05. This indicates that he has been pretty lucky this season. As I just indicated, his luck has been running out lately, and that could continue against Tampa this evening. Randy Arozarena, Austin Meadows, Wander Franco, Brandon Lowe, Joey Wendle, and Mike Zunino are all firmly in play - in order of preference.
