POINT GUARD

Chris Paul – Phoenix (at LA Lakers) - DK: $7,500 / FD: $7,900 / Yahoo: $31

Chris Paul is at his best in competitive games, and this should be a great one tonight. Though both teams are defensive-minded, Paul stands out as a mid-range PG that should exceed value despite the game factors at play. He’s been over 50 fantasy points in two of his last three games, with three consecutive double-doubles. You’ll see I’m prioritizing spending at PF/C as you scroll down, so Paul’s salary is a big factor for me, in addition to his high floor. In tournament lineups, I’m likely to try to get Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal in my guard spots, but for cash games, Paul is the man.

Also Consider: Russell Westbrook, Ja Morant, Trae Young, Kemba Walker

Bargain options: Derrick Rose, Goran Dragic/Kendrick Nunn, Alex Caruso

SHOOTING GUARD

Lonnie Walker IV – San Antonio (vs. New York) - DK: $5,100 / FD: $4,200 / Yahoo: $13

There are a few cheaper SGs that I think offer a nice high floor for cash games tonight. Walker should continue to benefit from a short-handed Spurs rotation, along with teammates Jakob Poeltl and Trey Lyles, even with LaMarcus Aldridge back in action. It’s not a good matchup, as the Knicks are one of the defensive surprises of the season, but Walker’s been playing well over 30 MPG since the Spurs’ return to action and should be counted on for at least 23-26 fantasy points tonight.

Also Consider: Bradley Beal, Paul George, Devin Booker, DeMar DeRozan

Bargain options: Kevin Huerter, Donte DiVincenzo, Dillon Brooks, Alec Burks/Immanuel Quickley

SMALL FORWARD

Michael Porter Jr. – Denver (at Milwaukee) - DK: $6,700 / FD: $6,300 / Yahoo: $24

Porter has been playing well lately and deserves a mention in a game that I’m trying to target often tonight. His salary is most workable on FanDuel, but as noted below, he will be the first player to go if, as on DraftKings, salary gets too tight. Milwaukee is a good defensive team, slightly better than Denver, but also plays at one of the fastest paces in the league. Porter has thrived in up-tempo matchups, like his recent run of four consecutive double-doubles (and at least 30 fantasy points in each). He’s stepping up now, like we’ve been waiting for, and he’s still affordable enough on FanDuel.

Also Consider: LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Khris Middleton

Bargain options: RJ Barrett, Rui Hachimura, Justise Winslow

POWER FORWARD

Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee (vs. Denver) - DK: $11,000 / FD: $11,300 / Yahoo: $56

My question is always about salary when it comes to the Greek Freak, and tonight the answer is yes, he’s worth it. I don’t love the alternatives at the position, given a lot of slower-paced games featuring quality defenses, for one thing. Next, this is a game with a 236.5-point over/under, and the Bucks are 6.5-point favorites. Finally, Giannis has exceeded 70 fantasy points in five of his last 10 games, and been under 60 just once.

Also Consider: Julius Randle, Jayson Tatum, John Collins

Bargain options: Nerlens Noel, Bobby Portis, Brandon Clarke

CENTER

Nikola Jokic – Denver (at Milwaukee) - DK: $10,800 / FD: $11,000 / Yahoo: $55

It is possible to fit Jokic and Antetokounmpo on all three sites without resorting to horrible value plays. If you want to stay more middle-of-the road, use Clint Capela here, who is playing great basketball right now. Otherwise, Jokic has to be the play at center tonight. He’s routinely putting up some of the best numbers in the league, ranking first in player efficiency with an insane usage rate. As noted, this game should be the highlight of the night, for viewers and DFS players.

Also Consider: Clint Capela, Jonas Valanciunas, Bam Adebayo

Bargain options: Jakob Poeltl, Robert Williams

ADDITIONAL NOTES

Rui Hachimura (F – WAS) is an alternative to Porter Jr. tonight that may end up working better on Yahoo and DraftKings, where Porter is my first guy to go when salary concerns arise. His numbers have dipped the past two games with Davis Bertans playing well, but there should be enough fantasy points to go around in this one. It carries the same high point total as Mil-Den, but the Grizzlies are just one-point favorites. Memphis is a favorable forward matchup, so consider this game a safe one to draw those cheaper value plays from.

Alec Burks (G/F – NYK) is probably more of a tournament play given his ups and downs, but Elfrid Payton is questionable again tonight, giving Burks and Quickley an opportunity for greater run. The matchup with the Spurs is one of the better ones tonight, as the Knicks should enjoy a pace boost and a lesser defense than their own. Still, this isn’t a situation to target too heavily given the volatility Burks offers.

Justise Winslow (F – MEM) has made something like a triumphant return from his extended injury absence. In four games, he’s averaging nearly 20 fantasy points per game, but is still at or near minimum salary everywhere. With Kyle Anderson questionable at best tonight with an illness, Winslow should again see around 22-24 minutes, and in this excellent matchup with one of the league’s most generous fantasy defenses, has an excellent chance to exceed his previous season-high of 30 fantasy points.
