There's a full slate of NBA games this Friday Night to lead us into Super Wild Card Weekend. The NBA slate features a pair of nationally-televised games, with one of those games being the Memphis Grizzlies hosting the Dallas Mavericks. I like the Grizzlies on the Money Line but not as an official play. My official play for tonight is below. As always, odds are powered via PointsBet.

Boston Celtics vs. Philadelphia 76ers (-3.5) Total: 209

The Philadelphia 76ers have won eight of their last 10 games and are currently playing their best basketball of the season. I can see the Sixers getting hot and making a push toward the top of the Eastern Conference. Joel Embiid is starting to look like the MVP candidate he was last season. While they still have the Ben Simmons issue looming, I like the way they are currently playing. PointsBet has the Sixers at +1000 to win the East and that’s a bet I would make. However, move quick as that number won't be around much longer.

The Celtics roll into Philadelphia this evening sporting a three-game winning streak. Before winning those three, the Celtics were 2-5 on the Money Line. With Boston currently a.500 team, I think their record will remain around .500 all season. Boston has been horrible on the road this season as they are 8-13 on the Money Line away from home. Since the month of December started, the Celtics only have two straight-up road wins.

Editor’s Note: “There has never been a scoreless NBA game, yet PointsBet is offering $125 in free bets to anyone using the code NEWYEAR, who places a $1 bet on any NBA game in which at least one point is scored. Just a single point. Go to PointsBet.com or download the app today, enter the code NEWYEAR to get in on the action."

For as bad as Boston has been on the road, they are decent ATS as visitors. Boston has a 11-10 record ATS on the road this season. Luckily for Boston, the 76ers have not been great at home this season. Philadelphia is 8-9 on the Money Line but they are only 6-11 ATS at home.

This will be the third meeting this season between the Celtics and 76ers, splitting the first two contests. PointsBet is reporting heavy action on the Sixers in this game with over 60% of the tickets and money backing the 76ers. Normally I would like to fade a heavy public favorite, especially one with a poor home ATS record but the Sixers have been playing much better as of late. I like them to ride Joel Embiid to a close victory this evening.

Edge: Sixers -3.5
