If you have a little extra pep in your step today it is because the NFL schedule was released earlier this week. That means sportsbooks have set look ahead lines for Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season. I'm not ready to run to the window just yet but let's take an early look at Week 1.
Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles Rams (-1) Total: 52
The defending Super Bowl Champions open up their season vs. the current Super Bowl Champion favorite at PointsBet, the Buffalo Bills. The Bills were 5-3 ATS and on the Money Line on the road last season.
Baltimore Ravens vs. New York Jets (-4.5) Total: 45
Lamar Jackson missed the final five games of the 2021 season causing Baltimore to lose their last 6-games of the year. With a win total sitting at 9.5 heavily juiced to the Over many NFL bettors feel as if the Ravens with a healthy Jackson will once again be a contender in the AFC. The Over cashed in 6 of the Jets 9 home games last season.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cincinnati Bengals (-6.5) Total: 45
For the first time in forever the Steelers will not have Ben Roethlisberger under center to start the season. The defending AFC Champions will have MVP candidate Joe Burrow under center. Mike Tomlin is 20-6-1 (76%) ATS as a AFC North Underdog in his career.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Washington Commanders (-4) Total: 44.5
The Commanders are not a new team. They are the old Washington franchise. You may have heard of them. They were good in the 80’s, not so much since. Over the last two seasons the Commanders were 6-2 on the Money Line as favorites.
Philadelphia Eagles vs. Detroit Lions (+4) Total: 46.5
The Detroit Lions were 11-6 ATS last season. This will be more of the more competitive games of Week 1. Around noon on Sunday morning September 11th the Eagles will be a -2.5 favorite.
Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers (-3.5) Total: 42.5
It will be interesting to see who will be the starting quarterbacks in this game. Deshaun Watson could be suspended. Baker Mayfield could be the starter in Carolina. If Watson does start the total won't close at 42.5 It will be higher.
New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins (-3) Total: 45
Big AFC East matchup to start the season. Only one of these teams will make the playoffs. Currently on PointsBet the Patriots are -170 to miss the playoffs while the Dolphins are -180 in the same market. Miami head coach Mike McDaniel will be making his head coaching debut. The guy on the other sideline will be starting his 22nd season as a head coach.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Chicago Bears (+6.5) Total: 42.5
Another Week one matchup with interesting quarterback situations. Justin Fields will definitely start for the Bears but who will start for the Niners?
New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons (+3.5) Total: 42
Division rivals meet in week one in Atlanta. Speaking of Atlanta, PointsBet has their projected regular season win total at 4.5. The Saints are 4-0 on the Money Line and ATS their last four visits to Atlanta.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Arizona Cardinals (+3) Total: 53
The Chiefs start the season as road favorites. Last season road favorites were 53-54 ATS. The Chiefs were 4-4 as road favorites. Don’t underestimate the Cardinals habit of starting the season hot.
New York Giants vs. Tennessee Titans (-6.5) Total 44
The Giants will be a trendy pick in this game. Don't overlook the consistency of the Titans roster and approach over the last four seasons.
Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings (+1.5) Total: 49
The Packers were 3.5 point road favorites in week one last season. They played their worst game of the year in a 35 point loss to the Saints. They were fine the rest of the regular season. Kevin O’Connell will be making his head coaching debut for the Vikings. Green Bay is 2-3 ATS and on the Money Line their last five games in Minnesota.
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers (-4) Total: 52
The AFC West will be front and center this season. It's the only division with two Super Bowl winning quarterbacks. Three AFC West teams are projected by oddsmakers to make the playoffs. The Raiders interestingly enough are not amongst those teams. Justin Herbert is 4-2 ATS at home vs. AFC West teams.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys (+2.5) Total: 51.5
This is a rematch of last season's Week one classic won by Tampa Bay. Since 2016 the Cowboys are 8-2 ATS and 7-3 straight up as home dogs.
Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks (+4) Total: 41
