Hodges, Julio and Week 13 Injury News

Updated On: November 27, 2019, 3:40 pm ET

It was a very slow news day on the Tuesday of Thanksgiving week, so I encourage you to read my in-depth preview of the three Thanksgiving games after this. I have stats, charts, news, and film notes on all fantasy-relevant players. If you plan on entering DFS tournaments, I added my positional tiers at the bottom.

Steelers QB Change

The Steelers have made it official. Devlin Hodges will start Week 13’s game against the Browns over Mason Rudolph, who was rightfully benched last Sunday. As for expectations, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said, “I expect Hodges to not kill us." What an amazing quote, one that sums up the Steelers Offense. I’m not expecting any production changes from Pittsburgh’s passing attack with Hodges, but this move needed to be made, even if it’s just to create a spark. It also keeps Rudolph from getting his head bashed in against the Browns this week.

Falcons Injuries

The Falcons will need all the help they can get when they play the Saints on Thanksgiving, and they might be playing at less than full health. Julio Jones did not practice on Tuesday with a shoulder injury that he sustained last week, and Austin Hooper (knee) remains week to week. Jones is questionable while we can safely project Hooper to miss at least one more game. Devonta Freeman, however, did return to practice and should be the starter on Thursday.

Other Injury Updates

T.Y. Hilton (calf) is unsure if he’ll play Week 13 after lacking explosiveness last Thursday. … Adam Thielen (hamstring) returned to practice and is on track to play Sunday. … Jeff Driskel is day to day with a “pretty sore” hamstring. UDFA rookie David Blough would start on Thanksgiving if Driskel can’t play. … T.J. Hockenson was limited with a shoulder injury but tentatively remains on track to play Thursday. … Gerald Everett is day to day with a knee injury. … 49ers K Robbie Gould is nearing a return. … Dolphins WR Jakeem Grant (ankle) will miss weeks. … The Vikings are going to send WR Chad Beebe (ankle) to injured reserve. … Minnesota also waived WR bust Josh Doctson. … The Ravens placed C Matt Skura (knee) on injured reserve. … The Titans placed DE Cameron Wake on injured reserve. … Rams RT Rob Havenstein (knee) has a chance at returning Week 13.
