EPL Matchweek 2 Best Bet

For my best bet this week I'm going to the blue half of Manchester. In his press conference Pep Guardiola was full of praise for newly promoted Bournemouth. He complimented their high press and ability to drop into five at the back and squeeze the play. All of that sounds great but I've seen this movie before. If Pep is too complimentary of a club before the match, the underlying truth is a beat down is usually coming.

I've rewatched Bournemouth's 2-0 win over Aston Villa just to make sure I didn't miss anything. At home the Cherries conceded 66% of the possession and Steven Gerrard's side could only get two of their fifteen shots on target. I fully expect City to match or better Villa's possession and shot numbers at home. With Erling Haaland leading the attack I'm banking on them being far more ruthless.

I don't remember seeing a -1700 moneyline in a Premier League match before but that's where we're at with this one. Bournemouth are really outclassed here and I expect the score line to reflect the gap. The spread is City -2.5 goals and if you're willing to drink the juice I think that's a solid bet at -160. However I'm always after plus money so I'm going to go with Manchester City's team total over 3.5 goals. PointsBet has it at +112!
