International break is underway and countries around the world vie for their chance to battle in the upcoming World Cup. Due to Covid-19 some are without key players and are forced to play home matches away from their home stadiums. Nonetheless, they must over come adversity and show true grit to make it out of their groups and accept an invite to Qatar.

Each week I break down Premier League action from a betting perspective, digging through information pertinent to bettors and offering my take on particular matchups. With international break upon us, I will turn my attention to Panama vs USA. Odds can be found via PointsBet Sportsbook:

Panama vs USA (Sunday, 6:00 p.m. ET):

Moneyline: Panama (+400) | Draw (+230) | USA (-130)

Thursday the US picked up three very crucial points in their 2-nil victory over Jamaica. Fortunately for them, Canada and Mexico ended in a draw. With both teams only picking up one point, the United States jumped into the top spot on the table. Now they must travel 1,800 miles from Texas to Panama City to try and continue their winning ways.

A road match in Panama is no easy feature. Panama play tough and try to limit their opponent’s chances. However, I am backing the road team to pick up all three points in Sunday’s fixture. Gregg Berhalter has instilled strong defensive tactics with decisive decision making. A style similar to the tactics Thomas Tuchel implemented at Chelsea when he arrived. This style is tough to breakdown but works when implemented correctly.

The United States come into this contest on a 13-game unbeaten streak, winning 11 of the 13 with the only draws coming to El Salvador and the cagey Canadian team. They lead their group in goal differential and expected goals allowed. Panama will be a difficult fate, yet the United States have more talent and play better defense. With the emergence of 18-year-old Ricardo Pepi, their offense has a forward who has pace and creativity to challenge any back line. The United States have dominated this match up, winning the last four contests. Berhalter and company know the importance of winning this fixture. For those reasons, I will be backing the United Sates to win (-130).
