Waiver Wired

Say yes to Jesper Bratt

Jared McCann jumped from being rostered in 17% of Yahoo leagues last week to 38%, while Linus Ullmark’s rostered percentage increased from 19% to 24%. Boston’s Jeremy Swayman (15%) is another intriguing option for the crease, but if Tuukka Rask returns this week then his fantasy value could nosedive.

Jakub Voracek and Phil Kessel are rostered in just 44% of Yahoo leagues, while Kirby Dach is available in 77% of pools and Nick Schmaltz can be had in 81% of Yahoo leagues.

Now let's get into this week's recommendations:

Alex Goligoski (Arizona) - D - Rostered in 21% of Yahoo leagues

Goligoski was rostered in just 5% of Yahoo leagues a week ago when he appeared on Waiver Wired. He has continued his strong play and should be scooped up if he’s still available. Goligoski has one goal, eight assists, 17 shots, three power-play helpers, 13 hits and 20 blocks in the past nine games.

Anthony Mantha (Detroit) - LW, RW - Rostered in 19% of Yahoo leagues

Mantha has gone through some ups and downs this season, but he has been trending in the right direction. He has compiled five goals and 11 points in the last 16 games. Mantha has remained productive despite playing on a separate line from Dylan Larkin. He has also racked up 100 shots and 20 blocks and 34 hits in 42 contests for some additional category coverage.

Jesper Bratt (New Jersey) - LW, RW - Rostered in 16% of Yahoo leagues

Bratt has appeared on Waiver Wired before and he’s worth revisiting because he is still available in the majority of leagues despite having a very productive season. He has five goals and 24 points through 33 matches. Bratt has accounted for 14 points, including 10 helpers, in the last 14 contests. That includes seven power-play points (two goals, five assists) and 23 shots on goal. Bratt is also currently riding a four-game point streak over which he has two markers and four assists. His linemate, Pavel Zacha (12%), is also worthy of more attention from fantasy managers.

Craig Smith (Boston) - RW - Rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Smith was an honorable mention a week ago and his hot play has continued. He is up to three goals and nine assists in the last 11 games. Smith has been seeing time on Boston’s top line with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand, which has provided some additional fantasy appeal. He is worthy of at least a flier at this time for as long as this production lasts.

Jack Roslovic (Columbus) - Rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Roslovic has two goals and four assists during a three-game point streak. He has had a productive season with the Blue Jackets and his recent hot streak makes him worth picking up again. He just had his first tough stretch since joining the team when he only had one goal and one helper in seven outings. However, that appears to be behind him now and he is up to 28 points in 35 games.

Alex Iafallo (Los Angeles) - LW - Rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues

Iafallo has become a regular on Waiver Wired, and just like Roslovic, he has had a successful year offensively while spending most of the year on waivers in the majority of leagues. Iafallo has found the back of the net in each of his past two outings to give him 11 on the year. He has only gone more than two games without picking up a point once this campaign, while registering 25 points through 39 matches. Iafallo has played well on the top line of the Kings this year alongside Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown.

Kevin Labanc (San Jose) - LW, RW - Rostered in 12% of Yahoo leagues

Labanc’s four-game point streak came to an end on Saturday, but he remains a decent option for this week granted you have the roster flexibility. He has been skating alongside Evander Kane and Logan Couture on the top line of the Sharks, while generating 24 points in 40 games. He has notched two goals and two assists in the past four games. Additionally, San Jose opens the week with a two-game set versus Anaheim and Labanc has three goals and three helpers in six previous meetings with the Ducks this year.

Connor Brown (Ottawa) - LW, RW - Rostered in 10% of Yahoo leagues

Brown has lit the lamp in each of the past seven games, while adding one assist and 24 shots. This hot streak comes after he managed to pick up only one helper in eight appearances previously. Brown is currently tied with Drake Batherson for the team lead in goals, with 13, and he currently ranks fourth on the Senators with 23 points in 42 contests. Batherson leads the way with a total of 25. Brown was Ottawa’s second-highest point producer last year with a total of 43 in 71 matches.

Alex Galchenyuk (Toronto) - C, LW - Rostered in 5% of Yahoo leagues

Galchenyuk got a look on Toronto’s top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner on Saturday and he had a successful audition. He posted two assists and three shots in the contest. Galchenyuk has mostly played as a top-six forward since joining the Leafs, while generating one goal and six points in 11 games. If he continues to play with Matthews and Marner then he is worthy of at least a short-term pickup.

Colin Blackwell (New York Rangers) - LW, RW - Rostered in 2% of Yahoo leagues

Blackwell has six goals and one assist over the past seven games. That includes three goals and one helper during a three-game point spree. Blackwell has been logging even-strength minutes alongside Artemi Panarin and Ryan Strome this month, while seeing time on the second power-play unit. He is currently tied for fourth on the Rangers in goals, with 12, which is the same amount as Panarin and Strome.
